Ferrari Announces Record 2012 Performance

2012 was a record year for Ferrari despite the world economic climate arguably being in a less favourable position than in its previous record in 2008.

7,318 road cars were delivered in 2012; 4.5% increase on 2011. Net profit was up a considerable 17.8% to 244 million Euros, helping Ferrari achieve its best year in its 66 year history.

Chairman Luca di Montezemolo said, “We are all enormously proud of ending the year with these kinds of results despite the unfavourable economic backdrop in many European nations, and the distinctly hostile one in Italy”.

“The credit for this goes to the men and women in Ferrari, the strength of the brand, a very complete and highly innovative range, and our gradual expansion into automotive markets worldwide.”

Future for the XK

Future for the XK

Jaguar intend to phase out the current XK model this summer; however don’t be too disheartened as you can expect a larger, more luxurious XK replacement to take its place. The new XK will rival the Bentley Continental GT and the new Mercedes-Benz S Class Coupe and will be based on the current F-Type model. The XK’s design will have a larger grille, prominent lower air intakes and horizontal headlights to distinguish it from its brother, whilst the powerful rear wheel arches and flowing tail lamps will help bring them together. The XK is to be offered with the option of a supercharged V6 or V8 petrol engine, with a six-cylinder diesel also making an appearance. The current XK sold over 54,000 models during its period, however due to the inception of the F-Type only 4,000 XK models were sold last year. The overhauled XK is not to be expected for a few years as Jaguar are undergoing a demanding period with the launch of the current F-Type Coupe and Convertible. Subsequently the small XE saloon is due for mid-2015, followed by an SUV model in early 2016.
