The First Official Teaser Image for the 2016 Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet!
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the first teaser image for its new S-Class cabriolet which will go on sale in the UK early next year.
The teaser image shows the four-seater convertible near a classic 1961 220 SE Cabriolet from the W 111 model series, indicating close links with luxury convertibles from its past.
Powertrain details have not yet been announced, however it is expected that the new cabriolet will use the same engines as the closed-roof S class equivalents, the 4.7-litre V8 S500 with 449bhp, the AMG S63 with a 577bhp twin-turbocharged V8 and the top of the range S65, with twelve cylinders and 621bhp.
The S-Class Cabriolet uses the same design of the S-Class Coupe and features a traditional fabric roof, which the company describes as the largest folding fabric roof to ever see series production.
Main emphasis is given on technology and new innovations include crystal-infused LED headlights and a Magic Body Control system that leans the car into bends.
A new head-up display system, the semi-autonomous Distronic Plus system with steering assistance, a collision-prevention system and infra-red night vision are also included.
More information will be revealed at Frankfurt Motor Show where the new Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet will make its first official public debut.
