Tesla Model 3 set for March 2016 debut
Tesla’s all-electric Model 3 is expected to get its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show next March.
A European debut for the Model 3 would be fitting, as its main rivals are the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Jaguar XE and Mercedes C-Class. Although the car will make its first appearance next year, customer deliveries are not expected until mid 2017.
The Model 3 will be powered by batteries manufactured at Tesla’s new gigafactory in Nevada, due to start production later this year. No technical details about the car have been released yet, but the Model 3 is expected to rival the BMW M3’s 0-62mph time of 4.1 seconds. It is also predicted to travel a similar distance on a full charge as an M3 on a full tank of fuel – around 423 miles.
The car will be sold direct through Tesla’s own retailers, priced at £30,000.
