DBX: Aston Martin’s New Luxury Concept Crossover.
Aston Martin’s electric all-wheel-drive GT crossover, the DBX, surprised everybody at the Geneva Motor Show 2015.
The DBX, which is a crossover in height but more of a sports car in shape, reflects a whole new direction for Aston Martin. Even though the shape of the grille and the rear light design are similar to current Aston products, this appears to be an expressive design exercise for Aston’s next phase of cars.
Aston’s new CEO, Andy Palmer, referred to the DBX as “a challenge to the existing status quo… when luxury GT travel is not only stylish and luxurious but also more practical, more family-friendly and more environmentally responsible.” Aston is hoping that the DBX will be appealing to a new audience, such as younger females, and opening new territories in different parts of the world.
More technical details have not yet been revealed, but what is known is that the DBX concept features a powerful electric motor in place of the firm’s traditional V12 engine and power is also sent to all four wheels.
Further information and prices will be announced at a later stage as the DBX is not ready for production yet. The DBX concept however, presents what a luxury Aston Martin GT could look like before the end of this decade.
